Behavior and Training Conference

Set your shelter or rescue group's pets up for success with the latest behavior and training recommendations. The Lollypop Farm team includes experts with certifications from the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. You'll learn more about the foundations of animal training, dog-dog introductions and playgroups, and early kitten and puppy socialization. Plus, have the opportunity to ask questions about the topics most important to you!

The Foundations of Animal Training

We will give an overview of the foundations of animal training, including: applied behavior analysis, learning theory, and clicker training. We will also discuss the ethics of different training methods. Learn how to apply these concepts to any species in your life (including humans!) We will utilize live demos to illustrate the key concepts.

Nice to Meet You: Dog-Dog Introductions & Playgroups

Getting started on the right paw is so important! First impressions last forever and the steps you take to introduce dogs can make all the difference. In this talk, we will discuss the best practices for dog-dog introductions and playgroups. We will also review dog body language and have a live demonstration.

Get ‘em While They’re Young: Early Kitten & Puppy Socialization
Rebecca Lohnes, MS, CDBC, ACCBC

By providing proper socialization to the kittens and puppies in your shelter or foster network, you will create well-adjusted feline and canine citizens who are less likely to be rehomed later in life! Learn about the science behind socialization, different types of socialization and how to accomplish them in your shelter or foster home, and how to engage in low-stress handling and cooperative care. We will also discuss the special needs of fearful or unsocialized puppies or kittens, singletons, and bottle babies.
